A Classic Party Rental: Could you please share your creative process for this tablescape and the inspiration behind it?
Stacey Hoaglin: I was inspired by Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” series and wanted to cultivate that into a Golden Hour “Picnic in Provence.” I was drawn in by the lavish golden velvet linen which exudes a lush richness, creating a canvas to harmonize with the warm earthiness of the setting sun. I created an “Opulence among Opposites” experience, a very unctuous “Simple Sunset Soiree,” where rich and rustic rendezvous… Bordeaux and Burlap, Charcuterie and Chardonnay, Merlot and Macarons. From Cafe au Lait to Creme Brulee, the Majestic gold rim coffee cups are filled with Provence almonds and assorted nuts, accompanied by a gold nutcracker, my favorite touch.
When I was asked to do Sunflowers at Sunset, a Picnic in Provence, tablescape this summer, it was a “dress rehearsal” opportunity for me. I originally came up with the Sunflowers at Sunset vision for The STEM Connection’s Tenth Anniversary Celebration in September (pictured above). I created a golden hour event experience with the help of David Reilich and Clayton Sharp. Everything was rented from AClassic!
